Virgil Allan Stone, 63, of Oakland, MD, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Garrett Regional Medical Center, Oakland. Born June 11, 1955 in Oakland, he was the son of the late Virgil H. and Regina C. (Selders) Stone. Virgil was a welder for Buffalo Coal Company and a member of the Bayard Church of God.

He also worked as an equipment operator for Lane Construction Company. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer L. Stemple and husband, Zack and Jessica L. Welch and husband, Willie, both of Oakland; one brother, Neil Stone, Oakland; eight grandchildren, Michael Stemple, Hailey Stemple, Jayden Stemple, Malaki Welch, Madalyn Welch, Regina Welch, Wyatt Welch and Chloe Welch.

Friends will be received at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 Memorial Drive, Oakland on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be conducted at the Bayard Church of God, 99 Spruce Street, Bayard, WV on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Phillip Marcum officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery.
