BRIDGEPORT, ILL. /MADISON-Mary Margaret Roberts-Powell, age 67, of Madison, departed this life on Thursday, May 3, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was born on Sept.

3, 1950, in Bridgeport, Ill. , the daughter of Marshall and Mary (Kamarauskas) Roberts. Mary was one of those rare people who lovingly enjoyed and reveled in the small things in life – walking her “grand dogs,” Keely and Enzo, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

She… Read More » was a tireless supporter of, and advocate for, breast cancer research, and did everything she could to raise awareness about metastatic breast cancer. Mary is survived by her husband, Jess Powell; sons, Nick (Natalie) Schimick of Richmond, Va. and Tim Schimick of Madison; granddaughters, Remy and Margaux Schimick; brothers, James and Timothy Roberts; sister, Marsha Spaniel; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Mary Roberts; and her brother, John Roberts. A Celebration of Mary’s spectacularly lived life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
