Heck, 90, of Perryville, died on February 10, 2019 at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville, MO. She was born March 3, 1928 near Brewer in Perry County, MO daughter of Fred R. and Lorene (Nifong) Mattingly. She and Harvey Heck were married on August 9, 1947.

He preceded her in death on October 12, 1988. Melda had worked for Tri-Con Manufacturing. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 4282, AmVets Auxiliary Post 94, American Legion Auxiliary Post 133 and River Hills Eagles Auxiliary Lodge 4034 all in Perryville, MO.

Survivors include two daughters, Diana (Richard) Sparkman of Florissant, Deborah (Roger) Richardet of Perryville; four grandchildren, Tim Sparkman, Brian Sparkman, Chad Richardet, and Michelle Orf , her “Baby Girl” and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Rita Cissell, Mary Yeager; one brother, Delmar Mattingly and one great-grandson, Trevor Richardet. Visitation will be held at Young & Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, February13 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Thursday, February 14 from 6:30 am until time of service at 10:00 am with Rev.

Bruce Owens officiating. Burial in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Young & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Perryville, MO provided the arrangements.
