Nona Dell Fuller, 91, of St. Louis, Missouri and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 1:22 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. She was born August 28, 1926 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Stephen Baugh and Emma Lenora (Smith) Hightower. She married Major Alfred Edward Fuller Jr. on July 12, 1959 at the Granite City Army Depot and he passed away at August 19, 1990.

She retired from the United States Army after over 40 years of dedicated service as a Logistics Management Specialist. Throughout her life, Nona crusaded for women and minorities fighting for women’s rights and equal rights for all. She was very active with the National Organization for Women for whom she served as a Past President of the Missouri Chapter.

She had also been a member of the Business of Professional Women in Granite City. She was a voracious reader, was legendary in her skills of writing her handwritten letters and had been classically trained as a soloist in her early days. She was devoted to the Arts and enjoyed her years of going to the opera, theatre, Art Museum and the Botanical Gardens.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Anna Fuller III of Hampton, Virginia; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Ralph Causey of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Anne and Tim Sweeney of St. Louis, Missouri, Karen and Mark Lund of Seattle, Washington and Kathryn and Ethan Allen Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Christine, Lauren and Patricia Causey, Jessica Fuller, Brendan and Danielle Sweeney, Jacob and Hannah Lund and Ethan IV, Reese and Reilly Allen; one great grandson, Sebastien; other extended family and many longtime friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Causey. In celebration of her life, a memorial visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m. with Chaplain Ford Frazer officiating.
