Ralph Henry Hartley Jr. Ralph Henry Hartley Jr., age 81, of Hudson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 28, 2018, at his residence. He was born in Caldwell Co. February 9, 1937 son of the late Ralph Hartley Sr. and Ruth Cooke Hartley. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Phyllis Icard Hartley, three sisters, Josephine Austin, Doris Hartley and Beth Hartley and a brother-in-law, William Carroll Rhyne.
Mr. Hartley was a retired electrical engineer for General Electric and enjoyed tennis, gardening, hunting, fishing and table tennis. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Martha Brown Hartley of the home, two sons, Danny Ralph Hartley (Lori) of Hickory, Joey Paul Hartley (Tony) of Hickory, two daughters, Lisa Hartley Leaming (Bill) of Hickory, Michelle Ann Hartley of Raleigh, step-daughter Myronia Greene of Granite Falls, grandson Jeremy Daniel Hartley (Amber) of Jacksonville, FL, great-granddaughter, Brylee Ann Hartley, two step grandchildren, Daniel Shane Ferguson (Kristy) and Whitney Marie Ferguson. Also surviving are two sisters, Peggy Nimey (Don) of Tallahassee, FL and Mary Sue Rhyne of Dallas, NC.
A Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 11:00-12:00 at Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Granite Falls with the Service to follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Caldwell County Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street, NW, Lenoir, NC 28645 Mackie Funeral Home of Granite Falls, NC is serving the family.
