Williams, Jr., 91 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019, at his home following a full and meaningful life. He was born July 15, 1927 in Buffalo, New York. Richard had made his home in Lorain for sixty years.

He proudly served during World War II as a Navy Weatherman in Argentia, Newfoundland Naval Air Station. Richard was employed at W.L. Baumler Company as a salesman. He was a very good man who gained the respect of everyone he touched.

Richard was a master in building things and willingly lent a helping hand to those who asked. He will be remembered as a very giving person. Richard was Past President of the Lorain Polish Fisherman’s Club.

He served as the recording secretary for the Lorain Senior Fellowship for many years. His club memberships were very important to him and he cherished the activities he supported and friends he made within these groups. He participated and supported the Ohio Sea Grant Association.

Richard enjoyed traveling with his wife Jean throughout the United States. In his spare time, Richard loved to read. Survivors include his son Norman D. Williams of Lorain; his daughter Deborah Slavik (Douglas) of Amherst; his grandchildren Peter, Aimee, Nathan and Joshua; his great grandchildren Jacob and Adrianna.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Williams (nee: Maiers); his brother Norman Williams and his sister Lois Platt; and his parents Richard and Esther Williams (nee: Fox). The family would like to thank the Mercy New Life Hospice staff who supported the family during his illness. Friends may call Sunday, January 27, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. until the celebration of life at 3:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave.
