Obituary for Richard Workman Pastor Richard L. Workman, 67, of Hummelstown, and formerly of Philadelphia and New Jersey, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at his home. Born in Philadelphia on July 23, 1950, he was the son of the late Henry and B. Freda Lee Workman. Richard was the former pastor of Westmont United Methodist Church, Haddon Township, NJ, and Zion Community Church, Clarksboro, NJ.

He was also a teacher at Woodbury Middle School in NJ for many years. Richard graduated from Bartram High School, Philadelphia, before continuing his education at Penn State University, Harrisburg, and Palmer’s Theological Seminary, St. David. An avid soccer follower, Richard was a season ticket holder of the Philadelphia Union soccer team.

He loved being near any body of water, enjoyed reading, and was a huge Civil War buff. Richard was a devoted husband and father, as well as a passionate and compassionate man to everyone he met. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Debora K. Wenner Workman, whom he married on September 23, 1978; children, Christopher husband of Sharon, David, Jeffery husband of Christy, Melissa, Timothy, Jamilyn wife of Eric, Sarah, Lindsey, Emily, and Joshua; and grandchildren, Andrew, Marisa, Cole, Carin, Landon, Mikalah, Eddie, Cadence, Charlotte, and Connor.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a son, Matthew; and brother, David. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018, at 12 Noon in Trinity United Methodist Church, 210 West Main Street, Hummelstown, with The Rev. Robert J. Kazinski, officiating.

A visitation will be held Monday in the church from 11 AM until time of the service. Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the National Adoption Center, 1500 Walnut Street, Suite 701, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
