Hickam, 74, of Perryville, died on February 21, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born January 20, 1945 in St. Louis, MO son of Henry D. and Lillie (Goforth) Hickam. He and Susan C. Miesner were married on November 11, 1972.

She survives in Perryville, MO. Russell had been a Contracting Officer for the U.S. Army. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown, MO.

Other survivors include three sons, Matthew (Jeanine) Hickam of Silverthorne, CO, Jeffrey (Taedra) Hickam of Perryville, David (Sara) Hickam of Grand Lake, CO; two sisters, Wanda Est of O’Fallon, MO, Joyce Brown of St. Peters, MO; one brother, Michael Hickam of High Ridge, MO; 7 grandchildren, Ayden, Henry, Rhett, Bryan, Lucas, Taylor, Bowen; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Patricia Purdy and one brother, Jerry Hickam. Visitation will be held at Young & Sons Funeral Home on Friday, March 1 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Saturday, March 2 from 6:30 to 8:00 am.

He will then be taken to Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown for services at 10:00 am with Rev. Paul Winningham officiating. Burial in the church cemetery with military graveside honors provided by American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.

In Lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Grace Lutheran Church, Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial in Perryville, MO or Alzheimers Association. Young & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. in Perryville, MO provided the arrangements.
