Ms. Thearl Janice Goodrich, age 79, of Elwood, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018. Born on December 4, 1938, Thearl was the daughter of Jesse L. and Flossie (Barrett) Goodrich. Thearl attended I.U.P.U.I. for business.

She retired from Dana Corporation and Szoria International. She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood. Thearl was called “The General” by friends and family because a look or word from her could have them stepping in line!

She enjoyed gourmet cooking, traveling and spending time with her family and her pets. Thearl was also a very talented artist. Thearl is survived by a son, Mark L. Perez and fiancé Sue Bement of Detroit Lakes,MN, 2 daughters, Tracey L. Perez Barnes and husband Lee of Poland, IN,and Jamie Perez Walsh and fiancé’ Bobby R. Mullins of Elwood, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Helen Goodrich of Alexandria, and many nieces and nephews.

Thearl was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edman Goodrich, and 3 sisters, Betty Trimble, Pat Hoosier, and Marcia “Peachie” Tomilison. A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, June 11, 2018 at First Missionary Baptist Church, 420 S. Anderson St. Elwood, IN 46036, with Pastor Rodney Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11am – 1 pm on Monday, June 11, 2018 at First Missionary Baptist Church prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elwood Animal Shelter. Online condolences can be given at www.
