Thomas Lee Peters 1951-2019 Thomas “Tom” Lee Peters, 67, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was taken from us too soon on Monday, May 27, 2019, surrounded by family and love. Tom was born June 24, 1951, to John and Donna (Schimmer) Peters, in Palmer, Nebraska. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1969 and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 1973.

Tom married the love of his life, Cindy Wissing, on July 1, 1972. To this union, they were blessed with two amazing children, Rachel and Alex. Tom was so proud of his kids; they were his whole world, and everyone knew it.

Tom was a stranger to no one, and he loved to talk about the good ‘ole days. Tom had a passion for numbers and started out of college teaching math and science in Arlington, Nebraska. He spent 21 years with BNSF Railroad and 14 years at Harriman Dispatch Center, Union Pacific Railroad.

This took the family on many great adventures together, spending time in Colorado, Texas and always back home to Nebraska. Tom retired in 2011 and enjoyed spending time with his family; watching the Huskers; reading; playing pitch, or just about any card game; enjoying a game of pool; and on a good day, dominos or monopoly, but only if he was winning! Tom was a volunteer reading mentor with City Impact in Lincoln.

Tom leaves behind his: wife, Cindy Peters; daughter, Rachel (Amanda) Peters; son, Alex Peters; sisters, Lori (John) Woodruff and Sue (Rick) Noden; mother-in-law, Elaine Wissing; brothers-in-law, Dan (Chris) and Dave Wissing; sisters-in-law, Linda (Chris) Lehecka and Judy (Steve) Iske; aunts, Rogene Toben and Shirley Peters; eight nieces, five nephews and their families; his best granddog, Maddie; and many extended family members and a multitude of friends. Preceded in death by: his mother and father; and father-in-law, Pete Wissing. Services: 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2019 at All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 South Locust, Grand Island.

Burial at Westlawn Cemetery to follow. Please join us for a reception at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, 2410 S. Blaine St, Grand Island, following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Heart Association or City Impact of Lincoln.
