Arthur Ray Butler, Jr., 90, of Accident, MD, died Monday, January 28, 2019, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD. Born August 18, 1928, in Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur Ray and Edith (Georg) Butler, Sr He was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Richter and one son-in-law, Thomas G. Sines.

Mr. Butler was owner and founder of Art Butler Auto Sales, Inc., Accident. Art had many jobs, starting as a truck driver for 20 years, sold Prudential Insurance and in 1968 started the car lot until his retirement. After retirement, he drove tour bus and he and Ruth spent winters in Florida.

He dearly loved and enjoyed his family. Art was a founding member of The Father’s House, Grantsville and charter member of the Deep Creek Lions Club. In his younger years, he was a baseball player for the Accident Baseball team and in his later years, he loved spending his evenings watching the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Eileen (Kamp) Butler, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage on September 12, 2018; three sons, Douglas (Sheila) Butler and Duane (Lisa) Butler, all of Accident; Randy (Kim) Butler, Grantsville; two daughters, Bonnie Sines and Connie (Ron) Wagner, all of Accident; one sister, Mary Lou Smith, Bittinger, MD; 15 grandchildren, Chad and Tim Sines, Tammy Burdock, Jeff Wagner, Brandi Conner, Ryan Butler, Brooke Cortes, Lyndsi Chaney, Kiersten Bradley, Derek, Brent, and Bethany Butler, Brandon, Cody and Trevor Butler; and 23 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in The Father’s House on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Sharon Colosino officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.

Interment will be in the St. John’s Cemetery, Accident. The family wishes to thank Stacey Blubaugh for the loving care she provided at their home and the staff at Goodwill Mennonite Home for their excellent care. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to The Father’s House.
