Herbert George Harman, 88, of Accident, MD, died Monday, January 28, 2019, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, MD. Born March 19, 1930, in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late Oscar and Anna (Krause) Harman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen (Holtschneider) Harman.

Mr. Harman was a dairy farmer and had a degree in forestry from WV University. Herbert was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He was also employed by the WV Department of Natural Res and the Wisconsin Department of Conservation.

Herb was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, LCMS, the National Riflemen’s Association and a 12 year member of the Garrett Co. Board of Education. He is survived by one son, Gerald (Brenda) Harman, Accident; two daughters, Cheryl (Jeff) Georg, Accident; Holly (Don) Harshbarger, Severn, MD; three brothers, Wayne (Helen) Harman, Swanton, MD; Edgar (Cosette) Harman, Oakland, MD; Randall (Eva Lou) Harman, Accident; eight grandchildren, Santanna (Matt) Artice; Gerri Lynn Harman; Taylor (Aida) Glotfelty; Timothy (Michelle) Glotfelty; Ashley and Caitlin Anderson, Christopher (Nicole) Harshbarger and Heather Harshbarger; two step-grandchildren, Billy Georg and Brian (Tiffany) Georg; two great grandchildren, Riley Elise Glotfelty and Nicholas James Glotfelty; three step-great grandchildren, Landon, Cady and Ella Georg. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the St. John’s Lutheran Church, LCMS, Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev.

James Oester officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the St. John’s Cemetery.

Military graveside rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, LCMS or Hospice of Garrett County. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.
