Obituary for Barbara “Barb” J. Beckman Barbara “Barb” J. Beckman, 76, of Grand Island passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, May 11 from 5 to 7 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Private services will be held in Barb’s honor.

All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Barb was born on April 22, 1942 in Omaha, daughter of Milton and Pauline (Hansen) Sommerfeld. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill of Grand Island; daughters, Stacie Beckman (fiancé, Rick Peterson) of Papillion, and Shellie Beckman of Hastings; son, Christopher (Julie) Beckman of North Platte; granddaughters, Alexis, Annie, Alleigh Beckman and Megan Boatman; great- grandsons, Harrison and Briar; along with numerous friends and fellow bridge players.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents. Barb grew up in Omaha, attending and graduating from Omaha North High School in 1960. During her sophomore year she met Bill Beckman.

On September 10, 1960 they were united in marriage and soon made Grand Island their home. After moving to Grand Island from Omaha, Barb was employed as a preschool teacher and as a jeweler for Sartor Hamann Jewelers. Barb loved to read and travel with Bill.
