Obituary for Barry Duane Brooks Barry Duane Brooks, 54, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born February 6, 1964 in Roanoke, Virginia to Jerry Wilson Brooks and Betty Call Thompson. He was a self-employed woodcarver.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Doris “Tootie” Upchurch Brooks; sons, Wade Wilson Brooks and Tyler Austin Brooks; sister, Tonya G. Carter (Gil); brother, Doug Brooks (Kim); grandson, Waylen Brooks; and step-father, Ralph Thompson. He is also survived by his uncle, Billy Call (Velma), cousins, Jeremy and Ben Call, nieces, Madi Brooks, Jessica Morris and nephews, Will Brooks, and Justin Morris. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
