Obituary for Betty J. Buchanan Betty J. Buchanan, 93, of South Beloit, IL, died Thursday, April 19, 2018 in her sister’s home. She was born on July 26, 1924 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Charles and Bernice (King) Stickler. Betty was a 1942 graduate of South Beloit High School.

She married Earl Buchanan and he predeceased her. Betty was employed by Freeman Shoe, the South Beloit School District, and Bergamont Brass in Delavan, WI for 17 years, retiring in 1991. She lived in Iowa from 1968 until 1975 and was a past president of the Iowa State Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Iowa American Legion Auxiliary.

Betty was also a former member of St. Peter Catholic Church, South Beloit, IL. Survivors include her son, Charles “Buck” (Jacque) Buchanan of Neenah, WI; sister, Linda Dammen of South Beloit, IL; grandchildren, Eric (Connie) Buchanan of Warrington, MO, Clayton (Brittany) Buchanan of Beloit, WI, Patricia (Sam) Taylor of Galesburg, IL, Ginger Beck of Louisiana, Cathi Ostenson of Janesville, WI, Melissa Ostenson of Oregon, IL, Tiffany Buchanan of TN, and Charles “CJ” (Heather) Buchanan of Corinth, MS; 27 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Tammy Buchanan of MS; son-in-law, Eddy “Sonny” Ostenson; and many devoted and loving nieces and nephews who helped care for her in recent years. She was predeceased by her parents; children, Jeanette Ostenson and Dean James Buchanan; sisters, Berniece Harrison and Lillian McDonald; two great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and great nephew, Travis Dammen.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with Norm Starks officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
