Obituary for Mr. Dale Rogers Roger Dale Rogers, 61, of 100 Lewis Drive, Greenville, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018, at Oconee Memorial Hospital. A native of Oconee County, SC, Dale was the son of Hazel Long Rogers and the late Eugene “Gene” Rogers. He was a 1974 graduate of Tamassee-Salem High School and 1978 graduate of Central Wesleyan University, which is now Southern Wesleyan University.

Dale was currently employed with Breakthru Beverage of South Carolina as a On Premise Field Sales Manager. Dale was a member of Augusta Road Baptist Church, where he was the teacher of the Explorer’s Sunday School Class, the Hospitality Team Leader, Mission Team Member, Sanctuary Choir Member and had served as a deacon and Mission’s Coordinator in the past. In addition to his mother, Dale is survived by his sisters: Gail Murphy (Skull) of Salem, SC, Joan Wells of Seneca, SC, Sandy Wright (Mike) of Jacksonville Beach, FL and Sarah Carver of Seneca, SC; nieces and nephews: Jason Murphy (Miller) of Pendleton, SC, Candace Murphy of Walhalla, SC and Kellie Murphy LaPrelle (Bob) of Richardson, TX; and grand-nieces and nephews: Abram, Cana, Audrey, Lydon and Murphy, which were dearly loved and adored by “Uncle Dale”.

In addition to his father, Dale was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother: Sellie Bolick Rogers (Alexander Monroe Rogers). A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Salem First Baptist Church Cemetery. A celebration of Dale’s life will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, at Augusta Road Baptist Church in Greenville, SC.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, September 28, 2018, at Davenport Funeral Home. A message from Dale’s pastor, Rev. Matt King: “Dale was in so many ways the human life force that kept our community of faith both vibrant and tethered to God’s will.

There was hardly an aspect of our ministries in which he was not involved. He set the tone of hospitality, Christian welcome and love with everyone who crossed our path. No Matter who you were, Dale saw Christ’s image within you.

He knew the power of studying scripture together, and led different Bible study classes for almost the entire time he was with us. He was moved by reverent worship. There was a special place in his heart for all ages and all people.

We ask that you pray for his family and for our congregation. Let us hold each other close, and lean upon Christ for comfort”.
