Edward M. “Ed” Minarcin, 75, of the North Vandergrift section of Parks Township, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at AHN- Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville, surrounded by his loving family. Born August 30, 1943 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Martin E. & Mary V. (Mazak) Minarcin. Ed has lived in North Vandergrift since 1979, and proudly served our country with the United States Army.

He worked at the Allegheny Ludlum Bagdad Plant from 1967 until his… Read More » retirement in 2001. Ed was a member of Our Lady Queen Of Peace Catholic Church, East Vandergrift. He enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, playing cards and bingo, and was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan.

Ed most loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Ed is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bettie L. (Shupe) Minarcin; children, Melissa L. (Dominick) DiAscro of Ruther Glen, VA, AnitaMarie (William) Wilmot of Vandergrift, Edward (Rochelle) Minarcin of Medina, OH, Christopher Minarcin of Oakmont; grandchildren, Dakota & Avery DiAscro, Tyler & Brynlee Minarcin; sister, Patricia (Allen) Stoltzfus of North Vandergrift; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces. Friends will be received on Sunday, September 9, from 2 to 4 & 6 to 9 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave.

, Apollo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, East Vandergrift, with Father Michael Sciberras as celebrant. Interment in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Vandergrift, with military honors accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans American Legion Honor Guard.
