Obituary for Gary Duane Martin Gary D. Martin, 86, died Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Tiffany Square. Services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 10:30 am, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Reverend Kelly Karges will officiate.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 22,2018 from 5-7 pm at All Faiths Funeral Home. Gary was born on February 12, 1932, to Lester and Gladys (Hill) Martin, in St. Edward, NE. He was raised in Albion, where he graduated from Albion High School in 1949.

Gary was united in marriage to Jackie Michael on May 20, 1951. Afterwards, they made their home in Grand Island. Gary worked as a postal clerk in Grand Island for 20 years, before becoming the Post Master in Alda for another 17 years.

He retired in 1990. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees), Platt-Duetsche, Saddle Club, and Methodist Men. Gary also volunteered at St. Francis gift shop and the state fair.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and all other sports, especially involving Husker and Islander athletics. Most of all, Gary enjoyed his weekly family dinners and yearly vacations with his wife and family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jackie; children, Cindy Avila of Grand Island, Kriste (Tom) Molacek of Grand Island, Jill (Michael) Myers of Grand Island, and Bradley Martin (Kim Harrington) of Grand Island; sisters/ brothers- in- law Janice Martin of Albion, Barb Michael of Albion, Donna (Dave) Sullivan of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lester Martin; brother- in- law, Richard Michael; and son- in- law, Steve Avila. Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church, Rockin Against Cancer, or to the family for later designation. Online remembrances may be left at www.
