Obituary for Mavis June Hjorth Mavis June Hjorth, 85, of Doniphan passed away at Tiffany Square on Friday, May 11, 2018. Service and celebration of Mavis’ life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17th, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Doniphan. The Reverend Daniel Bremer will officiate.

Burial will be in the Cedarview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Mavis was born on June 20, 1932 at Leigh, NE, to Frank and Bertha (Schlotzhauer) Nebola. She grew up in Leigh, receiving her education and graduating in 1950. She attended Wayne State College and worked at the REA in Columbus.

Mavis was united in marriage to Orval Hjorth on July 7, 1954 at Leigh. They lived in Stanton before moving to Doniphan in 1971. Mavis was a homemaker and worked part-time for the Doniphan Herald and Holiday Inn Gift Shop.

A member of Doniphan St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and LWML, Mavis’ faith was her cornerstone. Mavis was an avid pen pal writer, she had pen pals all over the country. She also loved to send letters, birthday cards and anniversary cards.

In years past, she enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and watching birds. Mavis was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found great joy when she could get together with them.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Terry Lienemann of Doniphan; beloved grandsons, Travis Lienemann of Doniphan, Shawn Lienemann of Kearney and Jared Lienemann of Grand Island; granddaughter, Amber (Marcus) Ramer of Roca and their children, Aurelia and Elias Ramer; sister, Delores Nebola of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruby Hjorth of San Diego, CA, Larry (Betty) Hjorth of Rogers, TX, Vernon Hjorth of Madison, NE, Wilbur Hjorth of Tuscon, AZ, Curt Hjorth of Norfolk, NE, Donavee Mavis of Brighton, CO and Lumir Pekny of San Antonio, TX; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orval in 2011; son, Mark in 2012; son, Brent in 1966; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joyce Pekny, Norman Hjorth, Elaine and Bob Smith, Jane and Bud Andrews, Sylvia Hjorth and Barb Hjorth.
