Stauffer A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at Milford Mennonite Church (East Fairview Mennonite Church is currently under renovation) with Pastors Kyle and Brad Roth officiating. Interment will be in East Fairview Cemetery, rural Milford. Visitation will be on Tuesday, 1:00 – 8:00 pm at Lauber Funeral Home, Milford with family receiving relatives and friends from 6–8 pm at the funeral home.

Visitation also 1 hour prior to service at church on Wednesday. Memorials have been established to East Fairview Mennonite Church. Gene Ellis Stauffer was born October 31, 1933 at Lincoln, Nebraska to Glen and Florence (Stutzman) Stauffer, the oldest of four children and went to meet his Lord on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Crestview Health Care Center in Milford, Nebraska at the age of 85 years.

As a young boy he attended country school in Seward County and worked on his family farm. He loved reading the Bible and accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at East Fairview Mennonite Church where he was a long and faithful member. He spent 2 years in 1W Services in South Bend, IN.

He was united in marriage to Marilyn Erb on September 12, 1958 at East Fairview Mennonite Church, and to this union five children, Krista, Delton, Brad, Jared and Gwen were born. Together they made their home near Dorchester where Gene raised cattle, hogs and grain. In the early years, he liked hunting.

His hobbies included raising pigeons and loved working with his horses. His faith and family were important to him and he loved sharing his faith with his children and others. He taught Sunday School and Bible School for several years.

Later in his life, he enjoyed traveling to Columbus to work at the sale barn and also worked at Southeast Community College and Crestview Care Center in Milford. Gene is survived by his wife, Marilyn, Milford, children and spouses, Krista Stauffer Phoenix, AZ, Delton and Anita Stauffer, Brad and Pat Stauffer, Jared and Kimberly Stauffer, all of Milford, Gwen and Joe Nisly, Hutchinson, KS, 15 grandchildren and spouses, Daron and Jelayna Stauffer, Austin Stauffer, Abbie and Eric Garlock, Alexa and Sam Olson, Gina and Clay Salberg, Shauna Stauffer, Colby and Sarah Stauffer, Cameron Stauffer, Coleman Stauffer, Carson Stauffer, Camille Stauffer, Sabrina Nisly, Sierra Nisly, Detrick Nisly, Saige Nisly, three great-grandsons, Beck, Jett and Hudson, sister, Mary Roth, Beaver Crossing, Judith Stauffer, Colorado Springs, CO, brother-in-law, Merle Beckler, Seward, sister-in-law, Bonnie Erb, Sioux Falls, SD, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Florence Stauffer, sister, Ann Beckler, parents-in-law, John and Ida Erb, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard Roth, Phyllis Beckler, Gerald and Myrtle Kremer, Ardell Erb, Kay Erb-Weaver, Betty Erb, Burdette Erb.
