James “Jim” W. Welsh April 17, 1941 – February 22, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card In Loving Memory Of James “Jim” Welsh Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the Milford United Methodist Church, with Pastor Lyle Schoen officiating. Memorials have been established and may be directed in care of the family. Visitation is Friday, March 1, from 1-8:00 pm with family greeting relatives and friends from 6-8:00, all at the funeral home.

James “Jim” W. Welsh was born on April 17, 1941, in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Lowell and Virginia (Warrick) Welsh, the youngest of two children, and passed away Friday, February 22, 2019, at his home in Milford at the age of 77. As a young boy, Jim and his family moved to Milford where he attended Milford Public Schools where he later became a 1959 graduate of Milford High School. He furthered his education by attending Nebraska Vocational Technical College in Milford where he majored in Electrical Technology.

Jim participated in the union apprenticeship in Lincoln’s union #265 and was employed as a union electrician. On September 2, 1962, he was united in marriage to Linda Zimmer in Pleasant Dale and to this union two boys, Michael and William were born. Linda passed away on October 1, 1987.

He finished his electrical career working as a facilities coordinator at Lincoln Electric System, retiring in 2010. Jim was blessed with a second marriage to Diane Niederschmidt on February 14, 1992, in Seward. During his life, Jim had a great talent for fixing just about everything, whether it be vehicles, jewelry, computers and anything in between.

He enjoyed fishing, camping and tinkering with electronics. Jim celebrated 37 years of sobriety on December 31st, 2018, where he developed many meaningful friendships over the years. Jim had a unique sense of humor and had a wonderful creative mind.

Jim is survived by his wife, Diane, Milford, sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Stephanie Welsh, Brighton, CO, William and Joanie Welsh, Linn Creek, MO, step daughter and spouse, Jessica and Chris Hostetler, Overland Park, KS, two grandsons, Benjamin and Tyler Welsh, both of Brighton, step granddaughters, Rachel and Elizabeth Hostetler, Overland Park, KS, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Deb and Steve Schaefer, Marquette, NE, nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friend including his beloved canine companions, Carson the black lab and Pedro, the chihuahua. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Linda in 1987, a brother, Donald Welsh, also in 1987.
