Gloria Lorraine Cilfone March 04, 1928 – February 24, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book OAKVILLE Gloria Lorraine Cilfone “Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother” Mrs. Gloria Lorraine (Colella) Cilfone, 90, of Oakville died Sunday after a very short illness at VITAS Inpatient Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Dean Cilfone. Gloria was born in Waterbury on March 4, 1928, daughter of the late Vincent Ralph and Carmella Loretta (Bartolomeo) Colella.
She worked at Uniroyal Footwear for 19 years until they closed in 1973. She later worked for the town of Watertown School Department as a crossing guard for 10 years. Gloria loved to cook for her family, especially on Sundays and holidays.
Some of the hobbies she loved included being an avid bingo player, camping, knitting, crocheting and taking trips to Atlantic City and the casino. Besides her husband Joe of 71 years she is survived by her children; Anthony Vincent Cilfone (Joanne M.) of Morris, Joseph M. Cilfone of Torrington, Gloriann Tamulonis (Walter) of Wolcott and Dean Anthony Cilfone (Joann D.); a sister, Jean Dwyer (Allen) of Watertown; a daughter-in-law, Sandra (O’Donnell) Cilfone Rizk (James) of Watertown; a sister-in-law, Terri Colella of Waterbury; 14 grandchildren, Jody Lee Lillis (Edward), Krista Cilfone, Derrick Tamulonis (Melissa) Vincent J. Cilfone, Jay “Rocko” Cilfone, Toni Lee Tamulonis-Martin, Nikki Lynn Ogonowski (William), Kyle Joseph Tamulonis (Elon), Daniel Joseph Cilfone, Jamie Lee Tamulonis Caruso (Alex), Albert Tamulonis, Lyndsey Marie Rizk, Joseph M. Cilfone Jr. and Nicholas Dean Cilfone; 7 great grandchildren, Vincent James Lillis, Jeannette Marie Lillis, Aidan Martin, Zayden Ogonowski, Jay Michael Cilfone Jr., Erianna Marie Cilfone and Mikayla Caruso. Gloria was also survived by many nieces and nephews; three godchildren, Colleen Sullivan Romanski, Mary Alice Kelson and Domenic Emaluele and a longtime friend Katherine “Kay” Sulivan.
She was predeceased by a son, Vincent R. Cilfone and 9 siblings; Angela Mastropietro, Joseph Colella, Gelsomino “Jimmy” Colella, Rosemary Perugini, Dolores Bradshaw, Theresa Martin, James “Sonny” Colella, Shirley Hayes, Michael “Mickey Colella. The family would like to sincerely thank her caregivers and home aids; Terri, Bonnie and Vivian, her nurses; Gail and Kendra and the staff of VITAS inpatient Unit for the exceptional care and comfort given to Gloria and her family during her convalescing. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
