Rocco Sforza December 19, 1925 – February 06, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences Waterbury, CT Rocco Sforza “Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather” Rocco Sforza, age 93, of Waterbury, entered into the gates of heaven on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Michela (Fusco) Sforza. Rocco was born on December 19, 1925 in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy, son of the late Pietro and Vittoria (Sforza) Sforza.

Rocco married his wife Michela in Italy in 1953 and came to the United States with their two children in 1966 on an eight day journey aboard the boat the Michael Angelo. He worked for Scovill Manufacturing for 20 years until his retirement. Rocco loved making homemade wine, gardening and picking wild mushrooms.

He had an intoxicating smile and made the room light up every time he entered. He was a simple man who enjoyed his life. The most important thing to him was being with his family.

Besides his loving wife of 65 years, he leaves his children, Maria Verdura and her husband Luciano of Oakville and Pietro “Peter” Sforza and his wife Nancy of Waterbury. He also leaves behind his siblings; Pellegrino Sforza of Italy, Mario Sforza of Germany, his three grandchildren; Stephen Verdura and his wife Jennifer, Adriana Truong and her husband Eric and Luciano Verdura Jr. and his wife Melissa “Missy”, his three great grandchildren; Giuliana, Luciano “Luca” III and Arabella, as well as his brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, many nieces, nephews and family. He was predeceased by one daughter, Pierina Sforza, one brother, Antonio Sforza and three sisters, Maria, Angela Maria and Giocondina Sforza.

Arrangements: A funeral will be held on Monday, February 11, 2019, 10:00 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Calling hours will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
