Obituary Service Details Mr. Nicholas “Poppy” Cristello, 96, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully, at St. Mary’s Hospital, on March 26, 2019. He was born in Waterbury, on January 29, 1923, the son of Anthony and Rose (Mastriano) Cristillo. Nick proudly served his country during WWII in the Merchant Marines, and was recently awarded “The Quilt of Valor” for his service.

He loved going to the parks to watch the local baseball games and visit the many Friends he had there. Nick will be Greatly Missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his sons, Randal Cristello, of Waterbury, Richard Dionne, of Erool, NH, and his daughter, Elizabeth Montanari, of Plymouth, CT.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Angelina Lanza. There will be a Graveside Service, with Full Military Honors, at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 East Main Street, Waterbury.
