Robert W. Sasso, Sr. March 21, 1939 – February 02, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book Watertown, CT Robert W. Sasso, Sr. “Beloved husband, father and grandfather” Robert “Bob” W. Sasso, Sr., 79, of Watertown and formerly of Waterbury, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the VITAS Innovative Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Fitzgerald) Sasso for 58 years. Bob was born in Waterbury, CT on March 21, 1939 a son of the late Charles C. and Madeline (Vecchione) Sasso and he was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel Church. He was a member of the first graduating class at Kaynor Technical High School in 1957. Bob was a machinist for Farrell Foundry for 31 years and after worked for Chapman School for 10 years before his retirement.
He enjoyed gardening and exercising at the gym where he loved to socialize with his friends. He was a happy and loving person with a kind soul, who always had love in his heart and he will be sorely missed. Besides his wife, Bob is survived by one daughter, Lori Hughson and her husband, Mark of Watertown, four sons, Robert W. Sasso, Jr. and his wife, Maria of Watertown, Brian Sasso of Middletown, John Sasso and his wife, Jeanne of Watertown and James Sasso of Watertown.
He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Douglas, Lindsey, Jillian, Nicholas, Robert III, Lauren, Erin, John and Michael, his brother, Raymond Sasso of Waterbury and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Charles Sasso. Bob’s family would like to thank the doctors and staff of The VITAS Innovative Hospice Unit for the wonderful care given to Bob.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Friends are asked to please meet directly at the church.
Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends and family may call at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT on Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
