Hays Luther McCord, 95, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Shelby, Indiana on April 24, 1923, to the late Verlin and Hazel (Hays) McCord. On July 28, 1941 he married the love of his life, Lauray Jane Berry.

Hays proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII and retired from Elston Richards in 1983. Family was among the most important parts of Hays’ life. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Hays is survived by his wife of nearly 77 years, Jane McCord; 4 grandsons, Steve Bronnenberg, Jason McCord, Nathan McCord, and Conor McCord; and great-granddaughter, Mariah Berry. Hays was preceded in death by his parents, many siblings, and 2 sons, Steven and Ronald McCord. Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Monday, July 2, 2018 at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton.

Burial will follow in the K. of P. – I.O.O.. F Cemetery in Frankton and will include military honors by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard. Visitation will be Monday, July 2, 2018, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton.
