Obituary for Herbert Hoover May Herbert Hoover May, 89, of St. Albans went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House, South Charleston. Hoover was a 1947 graduate of St. Albans High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Air Force.
He retired from Union Carbide Tech Center in 1982 after 35 years of service. During his retirement years he enjoyed farming, golfing and most of all his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Peggy Ann Kirby May; his father and mother, Ben and Nora May; brothers, Danny, Paul, Charlie, Jim and Glen; sisters, Ruby May Jarrett, Ruth May Bryant and Betty May McClure.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Doris Maxine May; son and daughter-in-law, Benny and Diane May of Fayetteville; daughter and son-in-law, Martha “Susie” and Terry Marshall of St. Albans; brother, Bob May of St. Albans. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Erin Caitlin May, Seth Layton May, Kent Layton Marshall and Madison Marie Marshall. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with Rev.
Richie McNiel officiating. Entombment will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
