Obituary for Verdena Dale Barker Verdena Barker 81, of St. Albans, West Virginia entered into eternal peace on June 20, 2018. She was greeted by her loving husband Arnold Barker, daughter Deanna Barker, and grandson Matthew Potter, who all proceeded her in death. Verdena was born on December 14, 1936, in Chapmanville, WV.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Susan Potter, Hurricane, Melissa Quintrell, St. Albans; her grandchildren: Justin Potter, James, Joshua, and Ashley Quintrell and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by a loving sister, Avonelle Estep of St. Albans, and several nieces and nephews. Verdena was a student of Chapmanville High School where she donned the title of Head Majorette.

She was a head cook at Anne Bailey Elementary School and a devout member of Teays Valley Baptist Church where she loved listening to the choir and the preaching of Pastor John Smith. She also previously attended Marlaing Gospel Tabernacle under the fellowship of Pastor Billy Stewart. Verdena loved listening to Charles Stanley and the Gaithers on Saturday evening.

She also enjoyed studying her bible and porch setting with family and friends. Visitation & funeral service will be Monday, June 25, 2018. Visitation with family and friends will be from 5-7pm with funeral to follow at 7:00 pm at Bartlett Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans, WV with Pastor Chad Estep officiating.

A private burial service will take place at Cunningham Memorial Park on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10:00 am. You may also visit Verdena’s tribute page at ChapmanFuneralHomes.com to share memories with the family. We would also like to thank our mother’s caretakers at Genesis Teays Center.
