Obituary for Iles Pastel “Cap” Boyd Iles Pastel “Cap” Boyd, age 75, of Swords Creek, VA passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA. Mr. Boyd was born in Russell County, VA and was the son of the late Graham Tolbert and Lucy Ellen Whited Boyd. He was a class of 1968 graduate of Richlands High School.
He served in the Virginia Army National Guard 276th Engineering Battalion Company B. Mr. Boyd was a retired coal miner of Island Creek Coal Company. He was a member of the John Ratliff American Legion Post #164 of Grundy, VA, the Improved Order of Red Man – Oniska Tribe #61, member of the UMWA Local # 2421 District 17 of Oakwood, VA; and was a member of the Doran Apostolic Church. He was a lifelong resident of the area.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Perry Eugene Boyd, Graham Paul Boyd, Delano Roosevelt Boyd and Pat Jennings Boyd; and sister, Mary Elizabeth Reynolds. He is survived by: His Wife, Rita Jean Addison Boyd Daughter: April Boyd Rahn and husband, Jason of Swords Creek, VA Son: Marcus Alan Boyd and wife, Heather of Richlands, VA Sisters: Joan Ann Rose of Memphis, TN Alice Faye White and husband, Carl of Swords Creek, VA Special Mother-in-Law, Peggy Addison of Richlands, VA Grandchildren: Taylor Shanae Rahn, Jonathan Blake Boyd, Kiya Brooke Rahn, Cameron Charles Boyd, Benjamin McKinley Rahn Funeral services for Iles Pastel “Cap” Boyd will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with Rev. Kenny Pruitt and Brother Darrell Reynolds officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, VA. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 1:00 on Saturday afternoon at the funeral home.
