Princeville – James E. “Jim” Kuntz, 91, of Princeville, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 3:59 a.m. He was born on February 23, 1927, the son of Edward R. and Ida (Gudeman) Kuntz. Jim married Sara Lou Diefenthaler on June 25, 1950 in Oconee, Illinois; she survives. Also surviving are four children, Daniel (Jan) Kuntz of Sycamore, Sheryl Bardell of Pekin, Robert (Karen) Kuntz of Richmond, Kentucky and Nancy (Mike) Rabbitt of Springfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren;… Read More » eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Kuntz of Streator; one sister, Mary Lou Dobat of Michigan and one sister in law, Marilyn Kuntz of Princeville.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tamara Kuntz and one brother, Jack Kuntz. After serving in the United States Army, Jim graduated with honors from the University of Illinois with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. He worked for the Farm Extension after college, then became a lifelong farmer.

He was a 4-H leader for many years, served on Princeville’s Board of Education, was a long time member of the Akron Township board, and was a charter member of Arrowhead Country Club in Chillicothe. Some of his hobbies included golf and playing bridge and dartball. He loved to sing and was a Chicago Cubs fan for 80 years.

Many of those who knew Jim experienced his satire. Jim’s funeral will be on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Princeville Presbyterian Church. Rev.

Chris Baker will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Princeville. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Princeville Presbyterian Church or the Akron-Princeville Fire and Rescue Department.
