Joan I Antolini , July 26, 1926 — April 28, 2018

My mother Joan I. Antolini passed away on April 28, 2018. She was born Joan Heller in Brooklyn, New York on July 26, 1926. The third of four daughters.

She moved to Bakersfield with her family when she was ten and grew up earning straight A’s all through school while working in her parents store, which she continued to do into adulthood. She went to the University of the Pacific and UCLA, becoming a fourth grade elementary school teacher, both in Delano and Santa Maria, at Main Street School,… Read More » in the 1950’s, where many of her paychecks went to buy clothes and shoes for many of her students, who were the children of migrant farmworkers (She loved her students). She married Henry Antolini on August 15,1959 and they had one child, son Paul, born in 1962.

Mom lived in Fairfield, California for many years taking care of her parents and later worked at Emporium Capwell Department Store, becoming the top sales person in the store, in her time working there. Mom recently moved back to Santa Maria to be closer to her son. She is preceded in death by her husband Hank, parents Aloysius and Katheren Heller, three sister’s Kathleen (Bill) Herbert, Peggy (George) Miller, Nancy (Mike) Mcginnis.

She is survived by her son Paul J. Antolini of Santa Maria as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins on both sides of the family that will greatly miss her. Mom was a person of high intelligence, who always enjoyed reading and always had a very generous heart, to all who knew her. She will really be missed.

Mom you and Dad were always my biggest fans, you both always tried to be there for me, I will always love you and miss you more than words can say I wish to thank the caregivers of both Amaiia’s Residence as well as Hospice for the care and comfort they gave to mom. A celebration of life for Mom is going to be at Dudley Hoffman Mortuary on Wednesday May 9, 2018 at 11:00, followed by a gravesite ceremony at the Santa Maria Cementary with a reception following at the Elks Lodge.
