Obituary for John R. Lavoie John R. Lavoie, 79, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, with his loving family at his side. Born in Ipswich on November 13, 1938, son of the late Samuel and Malvina (Gallant) Lavoie, he was raised and educated in Ipswich before relocating to this area. A US Air Force veteran, John retired from Western Bronze Foundry after many years of service.

He was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr, and a member of the Senior Connection of Wilbraham and the Polish Legion of American Veterans. A talented man, John enjoyed fixing and tending to anything that needed his attention. He and his wife spent many memorable times together at Hampton Beach, NH.

John is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Elaine K. (Wajda) Lavoie; his loving daughter, Laurie M. Wright of Brimfield; sisters, Elaine Gauthier of Ipswich and Ann Salter of Hempstead, NH; brother, Robert Lavoie of Ipswich; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Thomas A. Wright, Jr., and by his siblings, Hilda Ormond, Jean Datillo, and Norman, Arthur, Gilbert and Richard Lavoie. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for John on Saturday at 10AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica.

Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ministry of Care of St. Stanislaus Basilica, 566 Front St., Chicopee, MA 01013.
