Obituary for John Wayne Cockram John Wayne “Big John” Cockram, 55, of Bassett died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at home. He was born in Martinsville on November 10, 1962 to the late Roy Chester Cockram and Betty June Cockram-Spencer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert Lee Cockram and Roy Lee Cockram.

“Big John” was an avid outdoorsman and he loved to dance. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Cockram and her fiancé, Josh Hairston; two step-sons, Gregory Bowles and wife Jennifer, and Daniel Bowles and fiancée Megan Radford; two sisters, Linda C. Barbour and husband Clete, and Barbara C. Felts; one brother, Roy Herbert Cockram and wife Hilda; and three grandchildren, Makayla, Isabella, and Jackson Rea. A memorial service will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Wright Funeral Service Chapel at 4:00 P.M. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
