Joseph Anton Linggi February 3, 1933- May 15, 2018 Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Joseph A. Linggi of Santa Maria, CA passed away at the age of 85. The son of Joseph Linggi and Pauline (Christensen) Linggi, Joseph was born in Ross, CA and grew up in San Rafael. They settled in Santa Maria in 1965 when Joseph started a private law practice. Joseph opened the Santa Barbara County public defenders’ office in 1969 and worked there until his retirement in 1988. A faithful Catholic, Joseph was a member of the Saint Mary’s of the Assumption parish and the Traditional Latin Mass Community of Saint Junipero Serra in Pismo Beach.

He was also a member of the Toastmasters Club and the Santa Maria Elks Lodge for forty-nine years. Joseph had a wide-ranging intellectual curiosity, developed a mastery and enjoyment of computers, and loved music and books. A devoted grandfather, he enjoyed taking his grandchildren to the Santa Maria Children’s Museum and to Doc.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Heloisa; his children Anne Messner, Edward Linggi, Sylvia Troost, and Monica Linggi; and grandchildren Shane, Stephanie, Sofia, Lukas, Gabriel, Nikolas, Garrett, Samuel, Maria, Andrea, and Adriana. With heartfelt thanks to Fr.

Edward Jalbert, C.J. and Fr. Christopher Andrews O.S.B. for their pastoral care; and Dr. John Okerblom, Dignity Health Hospice doctors and staff including Kim Passmore (RN), Brenda Guerrero, Richard and Valerie Moreno, and Annie, Percy, Bless and Michelle of My Family Residential Care Home, for their devoted and loving care. A memorial Mass will be held on Monday, May 21 at 1:30 pm at St Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church in Santa Maria followed by burial at Santa Maria Cemetery.
