Joshua Collis, July 29, 1951 — January 26, 2019

Joshua Collis, age 67 of Kimball, WV died Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY from surgical complications due to a brief illness. He was born July 29, 1951 at Welch, WV and was a son of the late Walter Lee and Rosa Lee Owens Collis. Joshua was a 1972 Graduate of Big Creek High School and had worked for over fifty-four years as a coal miner, with various coal companies.

Mr. Collis was a humble man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: star gazing, reading his Bible and going to church at North Welch Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant sister, Mary Jane Collis; one brother, Randolph Collis. Those who survive to cherish his memories include his loving wife of forty-seven years, Linda Collis; one daughter, Christel Dawn McKinney of King, NC; one son, Joshua Collis, Jr. “J.J.” of Caretta, WV; four sisters, Inell Lahan and husband, Paul of Goose Creek, SC, JoAnn Adair of Cucumber, WV, Ruth Ann Lamb of San Antonio, TX and Annette Perdue and husband, Melvin of Yukon, WV; seven brothers, Walter Collis and wife, Kathleen and Eugene Collis both of St. Augustine, FL, Charles Collis and wife, Gladys of Royal Oak, MI, Billy Collis and wife, Carol of Madison Park, MI, Jeff Collis and wife, Connie of King, SC, Marvin Collis of Mocksville, NC and Ricky Collis and wife, Teresa of Yukon, WV; very special friend, Rev.

Scott Long; special pet, friend and companion, Bailey, who on the very same day, joined Joshua on his journey to his heavenly home; several nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends also survive. Funeral Services for Joshua Collis will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church in Canebrake, WV with the Rev. Scott Long officiating.

Burial will follow at Hartwell Cemetery in Hartwell, WV. Family members and friends will serve as Pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the Church after 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2019.
