Judith Carol (Ellingwood) Hobbs, 83, of Elwood, peacefully passed away at home with family at her side on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Judith was born on June 29, 1934 in Grant County, IN to the late Herbert Earl & Mary Lois(Miller) Ellingwood. Judith attended Wendell L. Willkie High School with the class of 1952, and then finished her high school education, graduating in 1979 from Elwood Community High School.

She walked at her graduation ceremony alongside her youngest daughter,something she was very proud of. Judith married her high school sweetheart Dallas Stanford Hobbs on July 2, 1950 and they shared over 67 years of marriage together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother devoted to her family and church.

She enjoyed knitting blankets and sweaters for her family. Judith was a faithful member of the East Main Street Wesleyan Church. While at church she was involved in teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and playing the piano.

Her gooseberry pies were always in great demand at church socials. She also loved working on puzzles and reading. After raising her family she worked for JC Penney and H&R Block in Elwood.

Judith is survived by her loving Husband, of 67 years, Dallas Hobbs of Elwood, IN; Son, Dr.Timothy (Victoria) Hobbs of Indianapolis, IN. , Daughter, Deborah (Richard) Conley of Portage, WI, Daughter, Robyn (Steve) Marsh of Frankton, IN. , Daughter, Lea Ann Haulk of Hopkinsville, KY.

Sister Brenda (Jim) Hayes, Sister, Jane Ann(Jim) Friend, Step-Sister, Janet(Steely) Green. 15 Grandchildren, Randi (Scott)Miles, Rusti (Greg) Conley-Jerome, Michael Conley, Rachel (David) Peiffer, Jacob Woodard, Tyler (Alesha)Marsh, Ryan (Vanessa) Haulk, Devan(Brett) Luckabaugh, Daniel (Callie) Haulk, Amanda (Theodore) Sedberry, Nathaniel(Sage) Hobbs, Peter Hobbs, Katie (Pete) Jalbert, Shaun (Jill) Miller and Pamela Miller. 24 Great-Grandchildren Several Nieces & Nephews Judith was preceded in death by her Father, Herbert Earl Ellingwood, Mother, Mary Lois Ellingwood, Brother, James Ellingwood and her Step-sister Mary Blanch Perry.

Funeral service to celebrate Judith’s life will be at 11:00 am Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Rev. Ron Becker and Rev. Tim Becker officiating.

Burial will follow in Knox Chapel Cemetery, near Rigdon, IN. Visitation for family & friends will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2018, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the East Main Street Wesleyan Church.
