Bettie J. Harting, age 95, of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Primrose Retirement Communities in Anderson following an extended illness. Bettie was born on August 6, 1922, in Elwood the daughter of Reginald and Beatrice (Murray) Hicks. On Sept.

13, 1941, she married the love of her life Frank Harting who passed away on June 12, 1986. Bettie was retired from Airfoil Textron after many years of service. She enjoyed working outdoors in her flower garden.

She also enjoyed music. While in Florida she loved to actively involved the Tin Lizzie’s singing and dancing. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Bettie’s family would like to thank the staff at Primrose Assisted Living, St. Vincent Hospice and her care givers Nancy, Jennifer and Judy. Bettie is survived by her two sons; Greg (Gail) Harting of Florida and Gary (Melinda) Harting of Elwood, two daughters; Carolyn (David) Stewart of Elwood and Marie (Steve) McMullen of Anderson, 11 grandchildren; Stephanie Stewart, Carrie Stewart, Brian Harting, Roxanne York, Justin Burnett, Lisa Harting, Emily Bragg, Jacob (Brenda) Juday, Sam (Abbey) Juday, Gregory (Megan) McMullen and Daniel (Jenna) McMullen, 10 great grandchildren, two sisters; Rosemary Jones of Elwood and Wilma Janes of Anderson, several nieces & nephews. Bettie was preceded in death by her parents; Reginald & Beatrice Hicks, husband; Frank Harting, brothers; Emory Hicks and William Hicks, sisters; Sarah E Hancock and Beatrice Beeman.

Funeral service celebrating Bettie’s life will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, with Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Saturday, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice.
