Helen K. Rice, age 84, of Elwood, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at her residence following an extended illness. Helen was born on November 17, 1933 in Harlan, Kentucky to Victor and Josey (Cloud) Kelly. On March 1, 1951, she married the love of her life, Willard Rice, who passed away on Nov.

17, 1994. Helen retired as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Dickey Nursing Home after several years of service. Helen enjoyed taking care of others.

She enjoyed being outdoors in her garden, getting her hands in the soil and watching things grow. More than anything, Helen loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.

Helen is survived by her beloved children, daughters; Freda Alleman of Marion, Wilam Arehart, Peggy (Mark) Bixby and Candie Rice all of Elwood, sons; Wally Rice and Rodney Rice both of Anderson, 22 grandchildren, and several great & great-great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her Father, Victor Kelly, Mother, Josey Kelly, Husband, Willard Rice, Daughters, Kathy Kelly, Patricia Rice and Louise Rice. A funeral service celebrating Helen’s life will be at 11:00 am Friday, May 11, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Pastor Jim Stout officiating.

Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 10, 2018, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. Online condolences can be given at www.
