Karen Sayers November 9, 1946 ~ March 3, 2019 Karen Sue Sayers, a long-time resident of the Layton/Ogden area, passed away peacefully on Sunday the 3rd of March at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living. Born on November 9,1946 in Windsor, Canada, Karen moved to The United States to seek out a new life. She was very proud to earn her US Citizenship, and followed the US politics closely.

She married Nathan Ezra Swapp in 1967. They had five children. They later divorced.

Karen valued education, and went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Communication, and communicate she did. Karen influenced many lives for good. Sometimes this meant taking someone into her home who was struggling in life, or more formally, this was evident in the impact she made on other people she taught or counseled.

Either way, the result was the same–she made a lasting effect that created lifelong friends. Karen was a social creature. She could always be found on the phone talking to someone, and catching up, or standing up for something she believed in.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, and staying informed of the news around the world. Her greatest love, however, was her family, and she dedicated her life to it. Throughout her days, Karen found hope and peace in her Savior Jesus Christ.

She devoured anything she could learn about His life, and loved to teach her children about Him. As a result, she was blessed with a great testimony that she didn’t hesitate to share with anyone. She was active in her church callings and loved being a Visiting Teacher.

Her understanding of the Plan of Salvation gave her hope throughout her life, and comfort as she neared the end of it. Karen is survived by five wonderful children: Jasson (Jessica) Swapp, Justine (Lee Romrell-Finlinson) Stephenson, Justin (Stacy) Swapp, Jesse (Carrie) Swapp, Jordan (Brittany) Swapp, 14 grandchildren, as well as her sisters, Mary, Leah, and Shirley, and their respective families. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Francis Sayers and her mother, Sybil Alice Sproule.
