BLOUNTVILLE, TENNESSEE – Linda Banner Salyer, 63, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Greystone Health Care Center, Blountville, Tennessee surrounded by her loving family and friends after a lengthy illness. She was born in Abingdon, Virginia; daughter of the late Clarence and Nell Trent Banner. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Denny; and by two brothers, Tom Banner and Roger Banner.

Linda was a graduate of Castlewood High School and retired from United Telephone System/Sprint after over thirty years of service. She loved going to the beach, taking cruises, and watching UT football. She will be remembered for her contagious smile, witty personality and that great laugh of hers.

Her kindness and generosity were a silent witness as she (and Denny) gave many a hand up when they were in need. She is survived by two brothers, Bill Banner and Bob Banner; many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles(including her special Aunt Polly); as well as a host of friends whom she loved dearly; she also leaves behind her longtime friend, Jan Long; and companion, Doug Harris both who were by her side throughout her illness. Funeral Services for Linda Banner Salyer will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia.

Committal Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 in East Tennessee Cemetery, Highway 75, Blountville, Tennessee (across from Tri-Cities Regional Airport). Family and Friends will meet at the cemetery. .

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia. The family expresses their appreciation to the staff at Greystone Health Care Center for their care and attention during Linda’s illness.
