Norma Deane (Hice) Diel, 93 of Brazil Indiana stepped from this life into her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 14, 2018, with her children by her side. She was born on March 26, 1925 in Clay County Indiana, the daughter of Albert and Marjorie (Houk) Hice. Norma graduated from Brazil High School.

Also surviving are her brothers, Robert Hice and Billy(Paula) Hice. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and crafts and was an active member of Home Extensions. She was a member of Union United Methodist Church as well as the Women’s Fellowship.

Our mother loved being around people. She volunteered at the Clay County Food Pantry with a servant’s heart. She invested in young lives by teaching kindergarten out of her home in Jordan Village.

After moving to Homer Illinois, she taught preschool for several more years continuing to make a difference in young lives. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, William Diel, and sisters-in-law, Rosetta Hice and Shirley Hice.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, November 19, 2018 in French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Avenue with Reverend Jason DEan officiating. Burial will be in Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled on Monday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
