Norma Jean Cole, October 04, 1948 — January 28, 2019

Norma Jean Robinson Cole, age 70, of Doran, Virginia entered into eternal rest on January 28, 2019 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, Virginia following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Cole was born on October 4, 1948 in Richlands, Virginia to the late William Henry and Pearl Elizabeth Reedy Robinson. She was employed for over 20 years as the bread maker at Cuz’s Uptown Barbeque in Pounding Mill, Virginia.

She loved working and going to the beach. Norma loved her family and was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. When she was not working or spending time with family, she enjoyed watching the different shopping network channels on television.

She was a member of City on a Hill Church and was a lifetime resident of the area. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Cole; her daughter, April Leigh Short; and her brothers, Otis Davis, Don Davis, and Marvin Davis. Those left to cherish her memory include: Daughters Pamela Gail Robinette and husband, Dave of Richlands, Virginia Mary Susan Shortt and husband, Michael Wayne Paul of Doran, Virginia Kristie Cole and husband, Jim McGlothlin of Doran, Virginia Son Jim T. Shortt, II and wife, Lora of Claypool Hill, Virginia Brother Elmer Robinson of Killeen, Texas Grandchildren: Christopher Michael Paul, Keyla Griffey, Jessica Casey, and Amber Jaden Paul Great Grandchildren: Adriannah Griffey, Lilly Casey, Vanessa Griffey, and Conner Griffey Canine Companions: Skippy and Poocher Funeral services for Norma Jean Cole will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Virginia with the Reverend Barry Absher officiating.

Interment will follow at Hankins Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Employees of Cuz’s Uptown Barbeque will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 PM to 9 PM.
