Ruth’s Obituary Ruth Shepard, 76, Minot, ND, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019, in a Minot hospital. Ruth Ann Kirk was born September 23, 1942, the daughter of Clarence Kirk and Marguerite (Sandel) Sutheard, in Chicago, IL. Ruth married Charles H. “Chuck” Shepard in 1964 in Michigan.

Following Chuck’s retirement from the United States Air force, they made their home in Minot. Chuck passed away December 21, 2008. Ruth was an Auxiliary member of the Minot VFW, Eagles Club and Moose Lodge.

She loved gardening and doing yard work; taking much pride in her flowers and yard. Ruth had a talent for always knowing what was on sale and how to get the best deal. She was a caregiver at heart; always giving of herself to anyone in need.

She enjoyed visiting with friends and family. Ruth was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Surviving family includes: Daughter, Tierney Cole, Lake City, FL; grandchildren, Brian (Nicki) Martin, Brittany (Erin) Dolan and Dustin (Danielle) Stephens; great-grandson, Grayson Martin; mother, Marguerite Sutheard, Springfield, IL; and her sisters, Margaret (Carl) Wilson, Springfield, IL and Carolyn (Melvin) Spears, Lincoln; IL.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Shepard; father, Clarence Kirk; step-father, Frank Sutheard; sisters, Rose Marie Kennedy and Judy Waters; and her brother, Greg Kirk. Memorial Service: Friday, February 1, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Signing of the Guestbook: An hour prior to the funeral service.

Celebration of Life Reception: Friday, February 1, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at On the Rocks Bar, Minot, ND. Memorials: In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials to the family are preferred.
