Marlin’s Obituary Marlin Melvin Latimer, 80, Voltaire, ND, died Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Trinity Hospital, Minot of pulmonary fibrosis. Marlin was born January 11, 1938, to Melvin A. and Olga C. (Frantsvog) Latimer in Minot, ND. He was raised in Voltaire, North Dakota and graduated from Velva High School in 1955.

He married Karen Lee Michaelson in Velva, December 2, 1971. They had one daughter, Susan Lee. Marlin was a family man, regularly keeping in touch with extended family to let each know he cared for them.

He was a loving grandfather giving time and attention to their activities. Family time was a joyous time with games both in and outdoors. He served his country and community.

He was drafted into the US Army and served two years. He was a good neighbor and member of the community serving on the city council and was mayor of Voltaire. He was employed at the Voltaire Farmers Elevator, William J. Neal Power Plant of Velva and in 1985, transferred to Antelope Valley Station at Beulah.

He retired from this position in 1995. His loving family includes: His wife, Karen of 47 years, Voltaire; their daughter, Susan (Brian) Latimer, Minot; granddaughters, Madison Lee and Hailey Mae Latimer, Minot; brother, Lowell (Ann) Latimer, Minot, ND; sisters-in-law, Bernice Latimer, Austin, TX, Lillian Latimer, Hazen, ND, Kay (Richard) Mikkelson, Mandan, Donna Mae Michaelson, Voltaire, Kathy Jo Michaelson, Palmer, Alaska and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Olga; sisters, Lou Jean (Franklin) Kelley and Marilyn (Carl) Anderson; and brothers, Lyle and Robert Latimer; sisters-in-law Beverly (Charles) Liguin, Shirley Michaelson, Betty Lou Scott, Peggy Michaelson; and brother-in-law, Dale Michaelson.

It was Marlin’s wish that no memorial or funeral be held. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
