Ruth’s Obituary Ruth Bryans, 92, Minot, formerly of Carpio, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Minot Health and Rehab. Ruth Dolores Tollefsrud was born January 16, 1927, the daughter of Edward and Beulah (Thorpe) Tollefsrud, in Little Falls, Minnesota. Due to her father’s occupation as a depot agent, the family moved to several small towns before settling in Hartland, ND, where she was confirmed and attended Hartland High School.

It was in Hartland, where she met her future husband. Ruth married Lynn E. Bryans November 8, 1947, at the Carpio Lutheran Church Parsonage. They made their home on a farm located in Plain Township of Renville County, NE of Carpio, ND, where they farmed small grains and raised livestock.

They shared 61 years of marriage before Lynn passed away February 13, 2009. Ruth was a member of Hartland Lutheran Church and then Carpio Lutheran Church. She attended Our Savior Lutheran Church while living in Minot.

Ruth enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, her flowers, gatherings at her home, shopping with her sister, many spontaneous road trips and vacations with their friends. She loved chocolate and hosting Christmas day dinners at her home for 42 years. Her loving family includes: Children, Sandra Erickson, Minot, Linda (Richard) Gray-Burgard, Minot, Gary (Jean) Bryans, Minot, and Susan Charnetzki, Kenmare; Grandchildren, Tammy (Todd) Erickson, Lisa (Cliff) Johnston, Penny (Gary) Grove, Craig (Carey) Erickson, Glenn (Janel) Gray, Leslie (John) Coughlin, Randy (Julie) Burgard, Rod (Nancy) Burgard, Shane (Whitney) Bryans, Ryan (Samantha) Bryans, and Laura (Michael) Gruenberg, and Angie Haaland, Melissa (Tim) Harris, Donny (Carri) Helwig, Chuck (Christy) Helwig, April Helwig and her fiancé, Shannon Greeley, Bobbie Jo Nelson, Brian (Briana) Charnetzki; numerous Great-Grandchildren and Great Great-Grandchildren; Siblings, Joyce Bryans, Carpio, Charles Tollefsrud, St. Paul, MN, and Beverly Lucas, Plentywood, MT; and several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Lynn; sons-in-law, David Gray and Harold Charnetzki; two great granddaughters; sisters, Charlene Johnson and Elna Picard; brothers-in-law, Dennis Johnson, Delano Lucas, Edward (Virginia Lee) Bryans, Dwayne Bryans, and Gene Bryans; niece, Sherrye (Glenn) Gustafson; and nephews, Delano Lucas Jr, and Michael Johnson. Funeral: Thursday, January 24, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot. Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Thursday from 10 am to service time at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
