Colleen Genovese October 30, 1950 – January 23, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book SOUTHBURY Colleen Genovese “Loving Wife, Mother, Sister & Friend” Colleen (Shea) Genovese, 68, of Southbury, entered into the gates of heaven in her home on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. She was the loving wife of Leonard Genovese Jr. Colleen was born in Waterbury on October 30, 1950, daughter of the late Dr. Vincent and Helen (Scully) Shea. She was a graduate of Fox Hollow School in Lenox, MA and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from Trinity College in Washington, D.C.
She began her career in NY working for Estée Lauder and Christian Dior and then was Co-Owner of the Tailored Peacock in Middlebury. For many years she was co-chair for the St. Mary’s Hospital Woman Fore Woman, Dorothy Hamill Breast Cancer Fundraiser dinner. She was currently a teacher at Pomperaug High School in the Alternative Education Department and she took pride and loved what she did.
Her student’s adored her and she was loved like a mother by them all. Besides her husband Leonard, Colleen leaves behind to cherish her memory her two sons; Leonard F. Genovese III, his love Ashley Frohock and Colleen’s soon to arrive grandson, Lenny IV of Boston, MA and Luke A. Genovese of Southbury. She also leaves behind her siblings; Rosemary S. Petruzzi and her husband Len of Woodbury, Sheila S. Powers and her husband Lee of Middlebury, V. Timothy Shea M.D. and his wife Judy of Woodbury, David Shea and his wife Kathie of Wolcott, Atty.
Paul Shea and his wife Heidi of Middlebury, Richard Shea M.D. and his wife Sally of Watertown, Helen S. Chittum and her husband Jay of Woodbury and Tara S. Gryga and her husband Phil of Wolcott, as well as her brother and sister-in-laws; Sandra and David Qerim of Cheshire, Linda Bennett of Harwinton, Rhonda and Peter Petruzzi of Woodbury, Richard and Elaine Genovese of North Salem, NY and Steven Genovese of Waterbury as well as several nieces and nephews. Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial for Colleen will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
