Capone, Jr. “Beloved husband, father & grandfather” Mr. John A. Capone, Jr., 82, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, January 05, 2019 at his home with his wife, Robin, by his side. He was the loving husband of Robin (Newcombe) Capone. John was born in Stamford, CT on February 27, 1936, son of the late John A. and Grace (Zollo) Capone, Sr
He was a graduate of Stamford High School Class of 1954. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked for State National Bank from 1958 until 1982, most recently as Senior Vice President of Personnel.
He then was Director of Benefits for the Bank of New England from 1983-1989. He owned Globe Dry Cleaners of Torrington, CT and Washington Cleaners of Washington, CT from 1989–1999. Jack was a lifetime member of the Candlewood Volunteer Fire Company and served as Treasurer between 1976-1984.
He served as President of the Board of Trustees, Leukemia Society of America, Fairfield County Chapter between 1976-1978. He was Treasurer of the Brookfield Baseball Association, A Member of the Bankers Association, and served as Municipal Agent for the Elderly for the Town of Thomaston. Jack’s hobbies included golf, he was a member of the Newtown Duplicate Bridge Club, and was a passionate stock market chartist writing a weekly market comments newsletter for many years.
Besides his wife, Robin, of 39 years, he leaves his son, Jeffrey Allen Capone of Norwalk, five grandchildren, Daniel Allen Capone of Naugatuck, Cassidy, Corbin and Camryn Quinn of Bethel, and Jeffrey Allen Capone, Jr. of Norwalk, a son-in-law, Peter Quinn of Bethel, and a daughter-in-law, Karen Faller Capone of Naugatuck. He was predeceased by a son, Michael A. Capone, and a daughter, Deborah Capone Quinn. Arrangements: A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 210 Church Street, Naugatuck.
Everyone is asked to meet DIRECTLY at the Church. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be held Monday, January 7, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
