Obituary for Mr. James Spann “Jimmy” DuPre, Jr. James Spann DuPre, Jr., 49, of 12 Mason Drive, Walhalla, joined his late father, James Spann DuPre, Sr. in heaven on September 22, 2018 after fighting his battle with leukemia. A native of Walhalla, SC, and born on October 22, 1968, he is the son of Connie Albertson DuPre and the late James Spann DuPre Sr. Jimmy “Brother”, lover of basketball, played at Walhalla High School and at the collegiate level at Anderson College and Coastal Carolina University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Southern Wesleyan University.

Brother dedicated his life to helping others as a social worker, job coach and a basketball coach. He could find the humor in any situation, and his laughter was contagious. Brother was passionate about politics, sports, and most of all, his family.

He was employed with South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation and was a member of the Democratic party. Brother attended Walhalla First Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sisters: Vickie Phillips (Richard) and Susie Humphrey (Frank); and his brother: Ronnie DuPre (Karen).

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Lauren Phillips Hill (Jon), Hudson Hill, Parker Hill, Natalie Phillips Woodall (Zac), Drew DuPre, Tori DuPre, Ryan Humphrey, and Zach Humphrey. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, from 3:00-4:00 PM, with a memorial service immediately following at 4:00 PM, at Davenport Funeral Home in West Union, SC. A private burial will be held at a later date at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca, SC.
