Jeffrey W. Piper, 64, of Kiski Township, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at AHN- Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. Born March 25, 1954 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late William E. & Alma “Peg” (Smith) Piper. Jeff was a 1972 graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School, and proudly served our country with the United States Navy.

He was employed as a welder for 4C Fabrication, Inc. in McKeesport and Kiebler Thompson Corporation in New Kensington. Jeff also worked… Read More » as an artificial insemination technician for Atlantic Breeders CO-OP, as a dialysis technician for Dialysis Clinic, Inc. in Monroeville, and as a policeman for Saltsburg & Loyalhanna Township. Jeff was a member of Apollo United Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon, elder, and member of the choir.

Jeff also served as a Volunteer Fireman for the Kiski Township VFC, and as an EMT for Avonmore Life Savers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and target shooting, and last worked in firearm sales at Gander Mountain’s Greensburg location. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Piper.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 44 years, Catherine D. (Schrecengost) Piper; son, J. Adam (Sarah) Piper of Blairsville; daughter, Joeleen Annette (Brian) Lipovsik of Kittanning; grandchildren, Alonzo, Gabriella, Conner, Gideon; brother, David A. (Joann) Piper of Bryan, OH; and his nephews, Ryan & Devin. At Jeff’s request, there will be no public viewing. Friends will be received in the Apollo United Presbyterian Church, 401 1st St., Apollo, on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Lea Austin officiating.

Following the service, military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard. Private interment in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg, at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Apollo, PA.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Jeff’s memory to the PA Game Commission, Donate To Wildlife, 2001 Elmerton Ave. , Harrisburg, PA 17110, Attention Department MS.
