Obituary for Ms. Jimmie Lou Loftis Roe Ms. Jimmie Lou Loftis Roe, 81, of Anderson, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018, at GHS Greenville Memorial Hospital. A native of Anderson County, Ms. Roe was the daughter of the late Lassie Miles and Mary Hamby Loftis. She was a woman that was truly ahead of her time.

Being a single mother of two daughters, she became a successful businesswoman and was the former owner and operator of several businesses including J.R.’S Restaurants in Anderson which was well known as “The Friendly Place” where no one ever met a stranger, and if they did, they weren’t for long. Later in life, she was a teacher’s assistant to the special needs children in the Anderson School District 5 system. Jimmie was truly the shining light of her family who cared for everyone genuinely.

She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. Ms. Roe is survived by two daughters: Debbie Harbert Greene (Tom) of Charleston, SC and Leefa Roe (Eric Davis) of San Diego, CA; two sisters: Clara Moon and Oveline Martin, both of Anderson, SC; three grandchildren; Hollie, Benjamin, and Elana; and one great-grandchild with two more on the way. In addition to her parents, Ms. Roe was preceded in death by three sisters: Lois Bolt, Edna Boatman and Nancy Wright.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the Oakwood Baptist Church School Cafeteria in Anderson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either a charity of one’s choice; Safe Harbor SC, PO Box 174, Greenville, SC 29602; or to Oakwood Baptist Church; 304 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
